Learning Objectives

After completing Competency 4, the learner should be able to:

  • Recognize tools and techniques to identify addiction disorders in women of childbearing age and with risk factors for FASD
  • Identify gender differences among individuals who abuse substances
  • Identify strategies to facilitate access to treatment by reducing gender-specific barriers to substance abuse treatment
  • Discuss techniques to engage women who abuse substances into treatment and recovery
  • Recognize issues related to professional values and ethics
